Worst Christmas Carol

Why do I keep hearing "Wonderful Christmas Time" (the one that goes "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time") in every shopping centre? Why did Hilary Duff remake what is possibly the worst Paul McCartney song? WHY?

I have exactly the same problem, working for a clothes retailer in a soul-less retail park outside London, UK. They keep playing this song along with a host of other 'hits'. I find myself thinking that in 65 billion years time when the dark energy that is accelerating the expansion of the universe, will tear appart all matter and this wont matter very much...

Actually the worst song is a live track that goes 'I just want to say....Merry Xmas Baby!...oh you sure treat me nice'.... etc.

I've heard that one so many times, it's probably damaging my immune system how angry I get. I'm gauled by how the vocalist keeps commenting on how well the band (the 'Boys') are playing - particularly as it is the kind of song the US army would use as a weapon to draw terrorists out of buildings.

Oh..Merry Xmas!

I was in London for Christmas 4 years ago. Had just come in from Iceland, which was absolutely charming for Christmas - little candles lining the streets, stores with carollers - and it was sad to have to return to the all-too-familiar global-commercial kind of Christmas.
