King Burger

Anyone who knows me knows I love my burgers. Best burger I've had in Singapore? Brewerkz's King Brew Burger (two patties (480 grams) of beef with cheese, bacon, sautéed mushrooms and beer chili). Best burger in Boston, at least while I was studying there? Dead heat between Bartley's, my favourite burger joint, and the poshness of the Harvest.

Which is why I was all excited when I read about the "Hamdog": a hot dog wrapped by a beef patty that's deep fried, covered with chili, cheese and onions, topped with a fried egg and two fistfuls of fries, and served on a hoagie bun. Mmm. Be still my beating heart. (Okay, not that still.)

Fortunately, one of the blogs I dip into from time to time, Texas Burger Guy, has a great pic of said Hamdog. Mmm. Arteries hardening... hardening...

"Be still my beating heart" is probably not exactly what you want to say here.

oh, on second thought that joke was probably implicit in the post.

acid - Can you get Ramly in Singapore? Last time I saw it was at an open-air pasar malam stall in Clementi, but that was one of those fairs that seem to pop up for festive occasions - is there actually a permanent Ramly stall?

Neil - yes, that was the joke. :)

Never tried Handlebar, but that's great - another hope for this post was to get new places in which to eat burgers.

I heard about the Leisure Drome Ramly. Supposed to be not good. I think it's closed down now anyway.

Mr. Bartley's is indeed one of the best burgers in Boston, but there are others, such as O'Sullivan's in nearby Somerville, and 75 Chestnut on Beacon Hill in Boston. But one of the best burgers in the entire United States (not that I've tried them all, but...) is Hodad's, in Ocean Beach, CA. I wish I lived a bit less than 3000 miles from there.
